Frequently Asked Questions

How can I join the Community Garden?

All you need to do is fill out an application and pay a plot fee for the current growing season.  We are under the umbrella of DUG (Denver Urban Gardens) and follow their guidelines and requirements.  Please contact our membership coordinator at lsvl.gardens@gmail.com to get an application.  Applications are accepted from January 30 until our plots are full.

How many plots are there and what are the fees?

There are 20 plots in our community garden. Currently, we still have both small and large plots available to any Louisville resident, with preference given to those who do not have garden space at home.

  • 8'x10' $75.00

  • 3 1/2' x 7 1/2' (raised plots)  $45.00

Each plot requires an additional $25.00 deposit refunded at the close of the season after the plot/s are cleared.

Our plots are assigned on a first come first served basis.

How do I water my garden and where do I store my tools?

We hand water plots from MANY conveniently placed water spigots. There are at least two community hoses. Drip hoses or self watering systems are not allowed. This is to control water use and build community.  Many tricks and tips have been shared as we watered our plots.

There is a locked shed for tools. Community tools are not marked.  If you have a tool that you do not want to be a community tool, label it clearly.

Water is on from the end of May to the beginning of November.
